Well-placed lighting can brighten up a kitchen and even make it appear larger. Cutting holes in drywall for recessed lights with large saws can cost a lot of money on products that will likely only be used once. Dremel is proud to introduce the new MM435 Cut Off Saw Blade. Used on the Multi-Max tool, this blade is perfect for making round cuts in drywall and can do so at twice the speed of typical oscillating drywall blades.
Once you’ve selected the area where you want to place your recessed lighting (over a sink, table, or island are the most popular choices), make sure you don’t place the fixture on ceiling joists and that you won’t run into any other fixtures. surprise when making the cut. Mark a circle on the ceiling where you want the cutout to be located. We trace the contour of our accessory to mark the cut. TIP: Read all safety and installation instructions for your lightr.us. Also, be sure to follow all electrical safety rules, such as checking that the power is off, and follow local code specifications when handling wiring.
Mount the MM435 accessory on the tool. You will notice that the tool is set to a slight offset. This is to ensure that you get the optimum angle for the best cut. Put the tool on high speed and plunge it along the mark. Notice how easily the tool sinks. Slowly work around the circle. You may need to reposition your hands as you get to the end of the cut. The drywall plug may not drop completely once you’ve completed the cut, so you may need to remove it.
Place the fixture in the newly cut hole. You may want to put caulk around the fixture to make it a more secure fit.
Finish off the newly cut hole with the recessed trim. Check out this link to Dremel’s DIY guides on running wire through the ceiling to get power to your new lighting.
